Pain Treatment

Injections

Cervical epidurals:

The cervical epidural is an injection intended to reduce inflammation and pain from one or more nerve roots within the spine. Indicated in localized pain treatment.

Thoracic epidurals:

Thoracic epidural is the injection of a local anesthetic with or without cortisone around the nerves of the spine. These nerves are responsible for the sensations in the chest and are part of the sympathetic nervous system.

Epidural lumbar

The epidural lumbar helps to reduce localized pain in the back or legs. This is an injection that is done in the lower back. The infiltration takes place in a sitting or lying position on the side. The needle is inserted between two vertebrae at the level of the lumbar spine into the space surrounding the bag containing the nerve roots, that is, the epidural space.

Therapeutic epidurals:

Therapeutic epidural is an injection that has the function of reducing inflammation and pain from one or more nerve roots inside the spine. It is indicated in regional pain treatment. It can be done at several levels of the spine, thoracic and cervical lumbar, for the latter we use fluoroscopy (X-ray).

Nerve blocks

Nerve blocks: consists in freezing (anesthetize) the painful area, just as the dentist does before treatment. This procedure is often used in neuropathic pain conditions to decrease the hypersensitivity produced by an irritated nerve. It is also useful in a condition of stiffness of a joint to allow pain-free mobilization.

Botox Therapeutic Injections for Painful Dystonia and Myofacial Syndrome

It is possible to inject botulinum toxin (Botox) to fight against cases of painful focal dystonia. Botox was initially introduced in medicine to treat dystonia (involuntary muscle spasm or contraction). It is an effective treatment against muscular pain, because it relaxes the muscles in painful contraction, it is injected locally according to a specific injection profile in order to keep the muscle functional.

PRP (platelet-rich plasma) epidural, tendon and joint

Platelet-rich plasma injection-called PRP are made in an articular space or tendon. PRP is a concentrated blood plasma that contains a high concentration of platelets. Platelets are the blood cells and contain a high reserve of bioactive proteins essential to the body’s healing process. Once injected, PRP releases its proteins, triggering the body’s healing process at the site of the lesion.

Therapeutic infusions

Ketamine infusion

Ketamine intravenous infusions are used to treat pain related to nerve injuries. Pain relief often occurs during the infusion or over the next few hours. More than one treatment may be required, but this treatment has been proven to treat chronic pain that is refractory to conventional treatments.

Lidocaine Infusion

Lidocaine may be effective in treating central or peripheral neuropathic pain. Lidocaine infusion is useful in the treatment of chronic pain refractory to conventional treatments.

Pamidronate Infusion for CRPS Treatment

Pamidronate is used to treat chronic pain caused by a complex regional pain syndrome. It is especially useful in the treatment of osteoporosis. The infusion lasts 2 hours, and is well tolerated. Rarely, it can affect the liver, but this is brief and without long-term consequences. Spread to the bones.

Disability Reports and Insurance Forms

Disability Reports and Insurance Forms: We can complete your disability forms and provide a disability report after an appropriate follow-up period and medical treatment (may vary depending on the illness being treated).

Analgesic medications

These are medications prescribed by the doctor to relieve pain. They have different levels of efficacy depending on the condition being treated. The dose initially prescribed should be adjusted according to the desired effect and the side effects experienced. Often multiple classes of drugs are needed to achieve a stable state.

Additives

Additives class of non-narcotic drugs, anti-inflammatory, antidepressants, anti-convulsants. Often a drug of this category is developed to treat a different condition from chronic pain, but has shown efficacy in relieving.

Narcotics

Narcotics these drugs are opiates (similar to morphine and its analogues), their effectiveness in pain is often rapid, but in the long term, they can cause noticeable and persistent side effects. Regular and monthly medical monitoring must be part of the use of this option.

Methadone and suboxone (buprenorphine)

Methadone and suboxone (buprenorphine) are options that are considered when patients experience tolerance (the body no longer responds to drugs) to opiates. They are very effective for refractory and neuropathic pain (nerve pain).

Pharmacological Cannabinoids and Medical Cannabis

The pharmacological cannabinoids and medical cannabis more popular for several years, it represents a valid and effective option. However the medical supervision allows to benefit optimally, that is to adjust the dose to the need of the patient. However, this option, although safe, is not suitable for all pain conditions.
